ZEISS CALYPSO releases

ZEISS CALYPSO is a universal software for applications in dimensional metrology. By regularly updating the software, we ensure modern and future-proof systems.

ZEISS CALYPSO 2022: Highlights of the new release

With the ZEISS CALYPSO 2022 software release, ZEISS is once again ensuring, with more than 60 new functions, a significant increase in performance in quality control for further time and cost savings in the inspection and analysis of components. Above all, optimizations for automation play a major role in the new software version.

Create measuring programs from CAD data

ZEISS CALYPSO 2022 offers users many new functions and improvements for the automated creation of finished measuring programs based on Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI) stored in the CAD model. With the new release, separate or combined tolerance zones are recognized, and the corresponding evaluation is automatically created. If defective geometry elements are attached to a PMI in the CAD model, the new release automatically creates the inspection characteristic without the measuring element, thus generating an inspection plan completely and without interruption. For PMI specifications that previously required manual input, manual input is now eliminated. With the new release, PMI generation runs automatically. For more clarity, the inspection characteristic groups are generated automatically with the new release.

For faster measurement: New optical functions

The optical distortion correction feature in ZEISS CALYPSO 2022 increases the accuracy of optical systems. A significant increase in accuracy is particularly noticeable in the peripheral areas. The smaller magnifications that can be used as a result increase the "Field of View". This means that more geometry elements can be captured in the image at the same time. Depending on the measurement task and the required tolerance, this reduces the necessary number of measurement images and at the same time saves measurement time.
The latest version of ZEISS CALYPSO 2022 now also supports the new ZEISS O-DETECT. This means that inspection plans from other CMMs - especially from the ZEISS O-INSPECT - can now also be run on this device. This means that all reporting evaluations and CALYPSO functions such as PCM, curve or generate inspection plans with PMI are available to users of the ZEISS O-DETECT.

Automated error analysis

CMM systems, especially optical ones, are getting faster and faster. With ZEISS CALYPSO, for example, it is now possible to easily measure 1000 holes in ten minutes. However, the subsequent manual evaluation of the measurement logs used to consume an enormous amount of time. With the new release of ZEISS CALYPSO, inspection characteristics with defects are detected and the complete detailed information is automatically displayed in the measurement report. The ZEISS CALYPSO inspection characteristic concept has now also been incorporated into the automated defect analysis in ZEISS PiWeb Reporting. This means that all characteristics "out of tolerance" are now automatically displayed in the interactive CAD view. This means that users no longer have to laboriously search for defects in the log. This saves time and also reduces the risk of overlooking out-of-tolerance features.

Automatic subsequent evaluation to increase the CMM utilization

So that the coordinate measuring machine is not occupied by the evaluation after the measurement, the evaluation can take place at a 2nd computer. The CMM is free for further measurements immediately after the end of the pure measurement. The measuring points for a subsequent evaluation are automatically stored and transferred to the evaluation computer with the settings from the CNC start. The coordinate measuring machine is immediately free for the next measurement. The evaluation computer can be commissioned by different coordinate measuring machines.

ZEISS CALYPSO updates from the last releases

All ZEISS CALYPSO updates offer significant performance improvements and new functions for a wide range of applications. They simplify operation and ensure continuous further development of the software to adapt to the changing needs and requirements of customers.

ZEISS CALYPSO Release 2021 | New option for the next level performance

The new option ZEISS CALYPSO dynamic planning reduces the demand on coordinate measuring machines by automatically and dynamically skipping characteristics well within process control. The option is easily adapted to existing or new measurement plans and is based on statistical rules from ZEISS GUARDUS MES or ZEISS GUARDUS CAQ software. These rules determine how often measurement characteristics are inspected in a measurement plan. A complete measurement plan can also be scheduled or manually executed at any time. Due to the applied rules, a considerable time savings during the measurement process is possible.

ZEISS CALYPSO Release 2021 | Planning optimizations that result in significant time savings

Based on Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI) stored in the CAD model and with the integration of the ZEISS Cookbook principle, users could already create measurement plans in the ZEISS software automatically. In ZEISS CALYPSO 2021, it is now possible to create measurement plans with PMI from STEP AP 242. The PMI extension is included within the STEP interface. In addition, improvements in the planning process provide further time savings. For example, ZEISS has simplified the workflow for displaying deviation flags and made numerous optimizations with regard to PMI import.

ZEISS CALYPSO Release 2021 | Freeform results are 20 times faster

An improved mathematical algorithm provides a significant increase in performance for the calculation of free-form and point sets as well as free-form deviations. In addition, the software features an improved adaptation of the Gauss-Chebyshev method for tactile as well as optical points. The latter are calculated faster by a factor of 100. In addition, the improved mathematical algorithm enables significantly accelerated data transfer. The optimized free-form user interface can now be used to eliminate outliers, set the number of points output in the CAD window and interactively adjust the CAD display in the report output. With the help of all these innovations, ZEISS CALYPSO 2021 delivers results up to 20 times faster.

ZEISS CALYPSO Release 2021 | Optical measurement time optimization of up to 270 percent

In the measurement time comparison, ZEISS CALYPSO 2021 achieves a measurement time optimization of up to 270 percent on the ZEISS O-INSPECT measuring machine. To achieve this, ZEISS has carried out web optimization and web automation, among other things. This allows measuring element sorting to be integrated, bypass path optimization to be switched on and unnecessary machine movements to be eliminated. Adjusting the camera position to the search beams in an inspection plan also makes a significant contribution to accelerating the measurement process. The latest software version bundles as many measuring elements as possible in one camera position, which is automatically determined via a predefined zoom level. In this way, several image elements fit into one camera image or even into partial areas.

ZEISS CALYPSO release 2019 | ZEISS CALYPSO express

The ZEISS CALYPSO express user interface focuses on the most important functionalities, because the scope of the displays is reduced and allows quick access to tactile and optical basic functions. This allows measurement tasks to be performed quickly.

ZEISS CALYPSO release 2019 | ZEISS CALYPSO pallet optimizer

With this new option, probe system changes for pallet measurements can be reduced to a minimum. For example, the total time on a coordinate measuring machine is reduced by an average of -20% when measuring with more than one sensor. The option is also very efficient when switching between optical and tactile sensors.
